About Alex

Alex Williams is a professional hockey player and experienced sports educator with over a decade of competitive play at the highest domestic level in England, Belgium and Australia. Alex was an important part of the 2021 Surbiton HC squad that won EHL bronze and, more recently, won the Coupe de Belgique with Royal Orée in 2025; the club's first trophy in nearly three decades.
Alongside his playing career, Alex has dedicated over a decade to education and coaching. Amongst other roles Alex has been a Director of Sport, Head of Hockey, Head of House and Head of Year, at some top schools in England, Belgium, and Australia. He is a qualified teacher and Level 3 FIH Coach with an MSc in Psychology of Sport and Exercise. He has also coached school, club, county, university, and regional pathways alongside private camps and youth sub-national teams.
Williams Sports Tours was born from the belief that sports tours are often a once in a lifetime opportunity and a real privilege. Therefore it is important they are done properly. For them to be as effective as possible, there has to be someone involved in the organisation with both the elite knowledge to make it happen and also the genuine care for people to see it through. At Williams Sports Tours, Alex brings both.
